Supervisory Paralegal Shanna Goodwin oversees clients, the firm’s associates, and even Managing Partner Shaun Southworth, especially on more complex and important projects. She assigns tasks and evaluates work, develops protocols, ensures compliance with protocols, and generally helps the Firm and its clients obtain successful results.

Although like all paralegals, Ms. Goodwin cannot provide legal advice, she has worked with the firm for years and has an in-depth knowledge of the laws and processes affecting federal employees including: the laws and regulations about appealing adverse actions to the Merit Systems Protection Board; the laws and regulations about challenging personnel actions under the Whistleblowing Protection Enhancement Act; the laws, regulations, and management directives about prosecuting claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended and interpreted, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended and interpreted, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1963, as amended and interpreted; the laws and regulations covering the Fair Labor Standards Act; the laws and regulations covering the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993; the laws and regulations covering the disability retirement process; the laws and regulations on workers compensation for employees; and more.

Before joining Southworth PC, Ms. Goodwin had many of areas of experience in different types of law including bankruptcy and civil litigation.

Ms. Goodwin is a graduate of Hampton University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in communications. She also holds an MBA from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at the Georgia State University and a paralegal certification from National Center for Paralegal Training, an ABA-approved program.
